RACIAL PROFILING: IF I HAD A HAMMER
When we hear the term Racial Profiling we think of a gun toting racist police officer who is out to destroy the lives of brown and black men.
The fact of the matter is that racial profiling is a basic human primordial thing that we all do.
It is also good police work, however it is problematic when it becomes the only tool we use to fight crime.
We will examine why we create stereo-types, bias and how they serve us as well as what to do
then they are no longer helping us achieve our goals or our goals have changed.
OBJECTIVES:
Identify and discuss participants' class status.
Understand our socialization in this socio -economic culture.
Learn definitions and guiding assumptions about affirmative action and equity.
Increase awareness and understanding of individual, institutional and societal, cultural manifestations of classism .
Understand conscious and unconscious effects of inequities.
Explore the concepts of white privilege, collusion, internalized oppression, and empowerment as they pertain to economic status.
Understand the simple rules to protect our organization from being sued.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED TO ALL ADLER STUDENTS WITH STUDENT ID
Receive 2 CEU's (Approved by MN Post Board and Social Organizations)
Fee $10 to be paid to instructor.

Who is Andre Koen?
Andre Koen is an energetic presenter, a powerful communicator, and a dynamic teacher. There are many words that describe him. The most illustrative is, “Andre, the Enkindled Spirit”. Andre is a diversity trainer in Minnesota. He provides face-to-face and online courses on diversity education including leadership development, empowerment training, cross-cultural competence, sensitivity training, anti-racism training and team building.
Most of his clients include professionals needing continuing education credits. As the Chief Facilitiator for Organizationallift.com he has taken his training to a global market and provides training for groups and individuals from wide range of cultures. His weekly blog includes ideas for controlling, removing, and fighting discrimination. Koen also offers one-on-one training and coaching.
Many of our courses have been preapproved for Continuing Education Credits, Continuing Legal Education Credits, Minnesota Board of Social Work Credits as well as the Minnesota Peace Officer’s Standards and Training Credits. Certificates are availible for submission to your local licensing organization.
